Three hundred and sixty four days since I decided to embark on a year with no "new to me" clothes. I have learned more and more about Fast Fashion and the damage it is doing to our ever-fragile planet. I have seen videos of fields and fields of clothing being burned because no one wants them, emitting toxicity into the atmosphere. My once go-to favorites were now tainted in my mind: tj maxx, marshalls, forever21, LOFT, even by beloved anthropologie.
What's a stylish girl to do? I set the challenge for myself (along with meeting Governor Maura Healey: check!) and had no idea the shift in paradigm that was going to take place. It sounds trite, but I have a whole new outlook on things.
So I am arriving at my new adventure: secondhand style. I am by no means an influencer, in fact I shy away from the spotlight. But this feels important to me. This matters and is something I am proud of and want to share with a small sliver of the world.
What is secondhand style? First and foremost it is a blog about my adventures in thrifting and swapping. More about swapping to come... I will post pictures of my finds, pictures of outfits, give some tips and tricks and perhaps "thrifting philosophy", and links to my Poshmark closet.
I am really excited to share my thinking and hopefully do my part to make women feel great and slow down the destruction of our beautiful planet.
